International living magazine has voted Ecuador as its number one retirement destination again for 2012 for its affordable living prices. While many people in the states are worried about how much less they will have than their parents when they reach retirement, if they choose Ecuador for retirement, they have much more than they could have imagined.
According to the magazine, you can live very comfortably in Ecuador for no more than $800 a month. If you are looking to live a little more luxurious, a mere $1,500 a month can make it a reality. The cost of living is in general much cheaper in Ecuador. For a few hundred dollars you can afford beach front property, or a mountain house with amazing views. Food is also very affordable, and gas is half the price in Ecuador in comparison to the states. There are more benefits too. Seniors enjoy 50% off public and private transportation within the county, 50% off tickers for cultural and sporting invents, 50% off electric and water bills, and free land line phone service. Many airlines including Taca and Copa offer 50% off international airfares.
I think I have already been convinced.
